What day is this, anyway?

I was supposed to post something yesterday for WIP Wednesdays, but I forgot. So, instead I shall post something for There Ya Go Thursdays, which I just made up.

The video that I am re-working isn't all bad, but it's filled with lazy shortcuts that would have looked much better if I had been willing to take the time in getting it right.

On the upper left is a capture from the original video. It was supposed to be a caricature of singer Jody Watley. Instead, it's a little difficult to tell who it is. Especially with the big blue bow on her head. And no, I didn't take enough time on that bow, either.

This is what I have thus far. I plan to re-choreograph her moves and re-adjust her expression to make her more lifelike.

And, there ya go.

Just a wee bit of progression

The hair was added and the camera positions were established. Still tweaking before I add extra characters in the scene.

Oh, snap! Is today Wednesday? Time to see me W.I.P. it!

This choreography is based on a collection of moves from a fifteen year old Jennifer Lopez video, which I happened to enjoy. I'm currently tweaking the poses to keep the movements from looking choppy and awkward. As usual, the character's hair will be created last to avoid slowing down the computer.

If you have any suggestions on how to make this better, don't be afraid to comment. I probably won't put any to use, but there's a first time for everything.

The process continues...

As one computer generates the final video for the latest scene, I make model preparations for an upcoming scene. It ain't over until it's over.

WIP it good!

So, today I figured out that #wip refers to work in progress. And since many people consider this "Work In Progress Wednesday", I might as well post my latest test video.

The long process of animation

Here is the clip that I plan to re-do. As cute as it may seem, there are a few details that I want to see corrected. After this video is a brief outline on how I plan to recreate the scene.

Once the character is modeled, the armature is put in place. The armature is the structure of bones that are used to pose each character.

Normally an animator would refer to a hand drawn storyboard with all the different positions he wants his character to hold. But, I am too lazy for all that, and thus go straight to the posing.

Once all the key poses are mapped out, Blender will simulate the animation. The hair was intentionally left out because it slows down the program.

Now, Blender will process each individual frame into a video format. Here is the result with one character temporarily complete.
